Fresh off the print on the Anderson Independent-Mail newspaper:

"Gene Troutman, who was fired as executive secretary to the Clemson board of trustees and recently lost part of his lawsuit against the board, sent out an analysis on the rankings in which he said the quest for top 20 has hurt the college.

Troutman said Forbes magazine this month also released its list of top schools in the U.S. Clemson was ranked 338th in the Forbes list, USC was 284th, and tiny Wofford College, with 1,400 students, was 58th.

How can it be 338th on Forbes list and 23rd on U.S. News list? Troutman said. The difference is that Clemson gets to prepare the numbers that they use for U.S. News."
