I need suggestions please.
We are heading to Hilton Head tomorrow. I’ve done almost no research, (it was my third choice of place to go, and we just decided last weekend). We are staying two blocks from the beach (we waited too long to get the oceanfront place - arghh). We will definitely walk the beach often.
We are taking our bicycles, and plan to ride a fair amount (I see they have lots of paths, but I’m really hoping you can actually ride for miles without having to stop a lot. We easily ride 30 miles at a time, so if anyone knows of bike rides that are safe and scenic, please let me knlw]. .
We plan to spend Sunday in Charleston (family meeting there for the day, I know it’s not that close).
We will likely go to Savannah for a day, and do the trolley ride and maybe take a tour. Suggestions for a day trip there are welcome, but I’m more concerned with HH.
Someone recommended Skull Creek Boathouse on HH, and we plan to go there to eat. We like seafood a lot (but not fired). We also like Indian, Asian, salads and things like that.
We are looking for active activities, and we don’t mind paying a fair amount for good food. We will use TripAdvisor for recommendations, but I appreciate any input people here have also.
Thanks in advance
Salty Dog. Yes, you can ride your bike there.
Check out Shelter Cove - numerous restaurants - outdoor music - fun to walk around before/after dinner and look at the boats.
Link to Coligny Plaza - we like the Frosty Frog for a casual meal - love their drink menu. Fun touristy shops.
Our realtor highly recommended Ela’s on the water at Shelter Cove - on the pricey side - looking forward to trying it on our next trip.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I may not respond muc tomorrow while we are driving, but I will read them when we get there.

Some of our favorites are in Bluffton, just over the bridge. Beautiful little town with lots of galleries, cafes, restaurants, gorgeous southern architecture:

This place! Get the cheese plate.
There is also a low-key winery on the island that has some delicious wine.
Have fun!
We love the Jazz Corner - great food and we love the Monday night performance. http://thejazzcorner.com/#about
@Singersmom07 I agree about the Jazz Corner! It’s always a fun experience. We were sad when the owner died suddenly a few years ago. He was a great guy.
Since we’re talking about the Wexford location, if anyone is ever on HH and needs to buy a gift for a baby or child, please stop in at Island Child. It’s one of the greatest children’s stores I’ve ever been in. Senny Powell is such a nice woman and will welcome you warmly. She and her husband, who is a teacher on HH, have a large family of adopted children and have also fostered many. Once I discovered the shop, I became a frequent customer!
HH is our fav beach!!
Chow Daddy’s and Lucky Rooster are both great – not seafood focused but good eats.
Sea Shack is best local seafood but a lot is fried. It’s a dive place but very popular. People start lining up at 5:00 to get in. Faster to go for lunch. It’s next to Chow Daddy’s.
+1 to the Island Child recommendation! It is an absolutely beautiful upscale children’s boutique.
Thanks for the recommendations everyone.
We are staying veryclose to Coligny shopping area.
The first night we wound up getting ice cream at the Ice cream shoppe in Coligny (very yummy) but we didn’t have dinner.
Yesterday we drove to close to Charleston to visit family.
Today we rode our bikes 10 miles each way and had lunch at Skull Creek Boathouse. It was very pleasant - we sat outside and the weather is gorgeous. We took bike paths almost all the way there. It was a nice ride. We also ran/walked the beach for 4 miles this morning, so I think I’ve had enough exercise.
I love the Ice Cream Cone!! I almost suggested it to you. Sounds like a great trip to far – jealous!
If you tire of seafood, our favorite Italian restaurant in the area is Pomodori. Small, family run place in an unassuming strip mall with amazing food. We usually go to HH every year and this is the only place my kids and husband insist we revisit. Call ahead for reservations as it is quite small. Enjoy the nice weather.
We rented a boat with a captain and went tubing and waterskiing. We had so much fun. We also did a guided kayak tour which was fun. And a sunset sail from the Sea Pines lighthouse, that was spectacular. There is a ropes course or a zip line on HH if you want something active, we were going to do it last time but my youngest was too small.
Thanks. We were thinking about a kayak tour, but We are a little freaked out by the gators.
@whitepicketfence, we love Italian, but it’s easy for us to get at home, so we will probably pass on that.
Family is coming to visit us here today, and leaving tomorrow. We may try to go to Sea Pines this afternoon, probably via bike, and go to Salty Dog/check out the other activities down there.
Or we may go for another longish bike ride. If we ride the beach we need to rent cycles, but it looks fun.
