Anyone have a recommended oceanfront condo they like? For vacation. I’m staring my research.
We stay at the Omni Resort oceanfront in Palmetto Dunes. The rooms are small suites with a kitchen area and living area, Multiple swimming pools - the waitstaff will bring food and drinks to you poolside. Several nice restaurants. Bike rental. Has everything I want.
Palmetto Dunes has several midrise oceanfront condo complexes. We have stayed in a few different units in Barrinton and Windsor that are oceanfront buildings. Depending on the owners and the floor, you will see a variety of decor and price; it will depend on what you are looking for, and how much you want to spend.

You can also check with VRBO or any of the independent companies for rentals. Besides Palmetto Dunes, there are other areas, but for villas, this is my preferred area. If I am staying in a house, I like Sea Pines.
Thanks to both of you, I’ll be checking them out!
My previous post should have said Barrington; sorry for the typo.
If you don’t want a resort -if you just want a condo close to the water
Try Vacation Time of Hilton Head. It is a rental company that represents privately owned properties. I like to get one that is in walking distance of Coligny Square
Edited to add -these aren’t fancy places -very basic
Palmetto Dunes is very nice and convenient. We were there in August. We used VRBO and stayed in a condo at the marina, which was great because we had a lovely view of the harbor, had bars and restaurants just downstairs, and the free shuttle took us to the beach without more than 5 minutes wait.
@conmama The number of oceanfront condos available for rent is limited, compared to the total number of condos available for rent. Be sure to do complete research if you’re booking through VRBO, as to exact location. Some beach areas are better than others. Also, not all buildings have elevators so while you may have a beautiful view from that third floor condo, carrying groceries and beach equipment up three flights of stairs may get old.
Depending how long, and when, you want to rent for, a resort might be a better option if you definitely want oceanfront. The one I’d recommend is the Westin. Beautiful beach, pools, good dining options and a golf course across the street.
If you want further HH info (restaurants, shopping, golf, things to do, theatre) or a recommendation for a realtor or two to help you find a rental, send me a PM. We’ve had a home there for 8 years.
All great info! I was hoping for 2 bedrooms for a whole week, so hotels might not work. I would prefer not to use sofa beds. I better get researching!
Our friends owned an oceanfront condo in Palmetto Dunes, it was a lovely property and great location.
We rented a 2 bed condo in Sea Pines on the water. I can’t recall the name of the complex but it was across the street from The Salty Dog. We had a great week there. Rented bikes, had some lovely meals and it was nice to be able to walk across to the salty dog.
That might be Beachside tennis condos^^
