Are they in desperate need of hispanics and because of this would it be easier someone who is hispanic to get in?

I want to know the answer to this question too…

I don’t think so, the pool of Hispanic origin applicants is very large and there is no scholarship Hispanic oriented.

jmarin, WashU does not have a large percentage of hispanic students (only 3%), so I would imagine that being hispanic would give you some advantage in admissions. Also, there are two scholarships that while open to everyone, are focused on diversity, the John Ervin and the Annika Rodriquez scholarships.

I agree with nervous1. Being hispanic would absolutely be an advantage if you apply for either the Ervin or Rodriguez. Both put quite a bit of emphasis on community service. The Ervin especially looks at bringing diverse groups of people together. Different groups can be racial, religious or even different ages. They are both great programs that not only offer merit money, but also offer a great support group on campus.

What has to do race with being on community service?

My understanding is that Ervin and Rodriguez are/were both accomplished minorities who devoted much of their lives to contributing to the community.
