<p>In another thread on Japanese language one poster noted that a special relationship exists between Earlham College and Japan:
“They say that if you wear your Earlham t-shirt in Japan, people will walk up to you on the street to say hello. There’s a wonderful story behind the special relationship between EC and Japan. During World War II, when Japanese-Americans were being rounded up into internment camps, Earlham asked and received permission from the US government to enroll several dozen students, sparing them from the camps. Japan has never forgotten that gesture.”</p>
<p>In a thread about Jesuit universities, I noted that there are special ties between Creighton U and Hawaii. <p>Does anyone know of other similar special relationships between certain colleges and particular regions or countries?</p>
