Am I in? :S

I want to major in Environmental Science.

I’m retaking the ACT in September, and I should be able to get a 33 or higher. Will that help a lot?

I’m so scared. I visited UF on Monday, and I really really really want to go there.

Also for the UF app, should I put the grade level that I participated in the activities? It doesn’t specifically ask…I dunno.

I’m going to write my essay on my involvement in group lessons (every week) for tennis for the last five years.

Good chance. There are no guarantees with UF, however.

ahhh

I go to a pretty low-performing school. I think I have the highest ACT score in my grade level. lol

I know it is better than last year’s valedictorian. I do very well compared to other students at my school. Doesn’t that help? Does UF have some sort of quota to fill?

:/

Gosh, it’d be quite a statement if UF does not accept someone that would qualify for their honor’s program. Admissions is so tough now. I’m trying to build up my extracurriculars for the “holistic review.”

believe it or not, when you look at the stat, there were some that had 1400 SAT got rejected last year, and I wouldn’t doubt there will be some this year too.

The fact that you are outperforming other people at your school will definitely help you out.

I hope so.

I know what I’m doing all of August. I musttttt get a 35/36 on the ACT. ack

I had almost identical stats to you, and I was rejected. I would aim for a 32 on the ACT, and write a really good essay. I know dumbasses who were accepted with a 3.2 UW and 1140 SAT, and people like me with competitive stats who were rejected. I wrote a really ****ty essay, so maybe that’s why? Now I’m sitting on a bunch of scholarships at FSU Honors
Good luck!

Yes, really work on your essay! My son’s gf had a 1080 SAT, only took 2 AP’s, had few EC’s, but had an awesome essay. She spent all summer writing it!!!

The assistant director of admissions told me that they don’t care about grammar or spelling or style (to an extent of course). They are looking for you to tell them something about yourself that makes you stand out.

If you are passionate about the environment, and your volunteer activities seem to be along those lines, that may make for a more interesting essay than tennis lessons.

I was in the same boat with Pistolen this year. I had a 32 ACT and other good stats, had a great essay that got me into NCF, Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Miami on half-tuition, and was rejected. Now just like Pistolen, I’m getting scholarships, but to the UCF Honors College.

Anyway, good luck. Just don’t get hung up over UF chances, because it’s extremely hard to find out how they’re making their decisions.
