<p>Hi guys… I have an update on my situation for anyone interested. Basically I am in the main round offer. My 1st preference is LLB and my 2nd is Arts. I have offers from other universities from around the world. I am currently being pressured by a university in NZ to make a decision regarding my offer. HKU is my 1st preference so I am waiting to hear from them first before I make any drastic decisions.</p>
<p>Anyway…so long story short…I have sent an email to admissions asking if my application can be considered before March 15th (deadline for NZ offer). Admissions replied that the request was forwarded to the faculties involved. Soooo… that being said hopefully I will find out soon. It’s been two days since that request was sent.</p>
<p>@Ornima Sorry for replying late I was a little busy at school. I had applied for Electronic Engineering and got the news about the rejection as my status on the website changed to unsuccessful (the very next day…). Dont worry they have sent out any positive responses yet otherwise some of the many applicants at my school would have received them.</p>
<p>My American son did a semester abroad at HKU .He enjoyed it a lot . He loved that he could drink in HK !</p>

<p>Just got accepted into McGill Canada…but cant afford it…hope HKUST can get me some sort of scholarship.</p>

<p>@TheAsh221: It was quite interesting. Three professors were talking to me and the were throwing me so many questions if Physics. It was purely academic. For me, it was fun talking with me. At last, they told me that it will take around month for them to give me decision. However, if I want my decision early, the professor told me to write him an e-mail. They also asked me my experience in International Physics Olympiad.
HKUST is my first choice. However, I won’t be able to afford it until and unless I win a full scholarship. In that case, I will attend NTU, where I have won a full scholarship.</p>

<p>@Ornima My first choice as in course at HKU was Engineering…or if u mean first choice in uni it is Hong Kong or Singapore wherever I get more scholarships.</p>
<p>@imitanium Thanks for the info. The only reason I got rejected by HKU was because I was so surprised and unprepared for an academic interview because I had a non-academic one wherever I had applied. Congrats on NTU and I think you will get a good scholarship at HKUST based on IPho.</p>

<p>By academic interview, do you guys mean like an exam-format? :/</p>
<p>^Academic means the interviewer asks you question related to the field you have applied for. For instance, if you have applied for chemistry, you might be asked about some exotic organic compounds.

<p>i asked ust about my application status. they said that they would tell me by this week, has anyone got an offer this week? my friends who take science still haven’t got any offer from ust. all my friends(about 10 friends) who take engineering and business have got the offer.</p>

<p>I am worried now …my status still shows under consideration and now they have extended dates till 31st march for application saying they have almost doubled seats for international applicants !</p>
