HKU or HKUST

@Alvians Hey! I don’t really know about this Australian education system but with some knowledge i think your ATAR is not enough for HKU/HKUST. I mean i have seen many applicants to HKU with 99.4 ATAR so i guess they are more competitive. But give it a try and we can be surprised by your decision :D

Hello guys, I am Mukul

I am looking at HKU for doing my Msc in Computer Science. I am planning to hit the september 2013 session. I know about HKU medical and business school, their reputation. But not much about HKU/ST reputation for Engineering and more particularly Computer Science. Any inputs ??

My background

Indian
Currently working as Software Engineer at CSC (August 2011 to Present)
B.tech in CS with 76%
12th - 91.4%
10th - 82.6%

I have not appeared for GRE/TOEFL yet. I think GRE is not required for HKU/HKUST right?

Looking at data above, could someone suggest my chances of getting into HKU n HKUST ?

There are couple of more things that I am confused about. How are jobs in HK? I mean what package can I expect to hit if I do my MSc from either of these universities?

Also, like students can work part time in canada/the states/singapore etc. Is there similar stuff in HK as well?

Moreover the major discuss over here is HKU/HKUST. So which would be better to pursue Masters in computer science?

Would really appreciate your response.

yes for those in my school

Next week is mid Jan alr!!! Good news pls come quickly!!! >.<"

just wanna know… i applied for HKU normal track

Anyone has received offer from HKU under fast track (or ur friends etc) last week?

I also havent received any notification’s from either hkust and hku, applied fast track for both…Trying to keep my cool, but feeling really frustrated at times since either has no answer!! :(

Come on mates, can someone please share some info about Masters in Comp Sciemce from HKU/HKUST . How are they ? And what job oppertunities can I Expect? I mean are there IT, jobs in HK amd what are avg packages?

This info is imp to me as I would be taking handsome loan for my study, so i need to know the job market. :slight_smile:
Please help.

@HKApplicant me too, but I only applied for HKU. This long process of waiting is really killing me!! T.T

@HKApplicant & elisexia
The same goes for me too… I applied for the business programs through fast track for both HKUST and HKU but did not get any answers yet. I wish at least one of them will come out in January.

Excuse me, I have a question: Do ALL applicants of HKU/CUHK/HKUST/CityU HAVE to take A-Level/IB? Or is it just only for those students taking those programs?

@willa96
no, you can apply with most kind of programmes, including most places’ local examinations.

for those applied for UST business wt r ur stats?? cuz i wanna know is academic results their only concern

I got an offer from hku!
Byw, i sent an email accepting their offer, then is it normal that they don’t send any reply to it?
