So I guess I can say I’m your average high school student going to be a senior. I’m involved in my school playing sports and in the marching band. I hang out with my friends on weekends and I have a home. I get average grades at best having a cumulative GPA of 84.67% out of 100 taking normal college prep classes. I’m applying to three state schools in Pa but I do not think I will get accepted. Would community college be a good fit for me? I think a couple classes at my local community college will help me transfer easier and get me up to par. Senior year my goal is to get all A’s. Hopefully I can achieve this goal. Is it bad to choose community college over a state school? I would want to transfer afterwords.

Community colleges are set up for easy transfering to a four year school. You have a fine plan. In fact, you may want to stay at the community college long enough to earn an associates degree and then transfer. If you do that, then all of your classes should transfer. If you only transfer some classes, then you may find that your four year school will not accept all of your classes. Your mileage may vary, but you are wise to start thinking about this now and asking questions.
