Hmmm...should I retake the SAT?

I really don’t think I need to, but a lot of my peers who have retaken it have matched or surpassed my scores on their second and third sittings. I know that I could improve my scores a bit, but I don’t know if I need to (or if I even can- I’d have to do standby). I’ve only taken it once:

Math: 720 (this could definitely go up, I got 800 on the Math II test)
CR: 730 (might go up)
Writing: 760 (unlikely to go up much)

Thanks for your input!

to where are you applying?

a 1430 is fine (for any college), however, with college admissions becoming more and more competitive, a 1500+ would be much “safer”…

yeah, it depends on where you are applying. for almost every school in the country, those scores are great. but for the top schools that most CCers look at, you might want to increase them just a little.

I’m applying to top schools:

Stanford EA
Yale
Harvard
Duke
Pomona
UPenn
Vanderbilt
Wash U

I forgot to say I also took the ACT and got a 33.

well, if the schools superscore (i dont know which ones on your list do), and you are sure that you can increase your math score, i would retake.

by the way, just because you did well on your SAT II math level 2 test, doesnt necessarily mean that you will do better on the normal SAT math. they are two different tests and they test different things.

great scores
