Hey, I am an Indian and I am planning to apply to Stanford University and I was wondering how many Indian students actually get financial aid in Stanford, MIT and the Ivy League Universities?
On your other thread, you said in the OP that you we’re “planning to” ask for FA, then in a post further down the thread you said you won’t ask for for FA if it would help you. Does your family qualify for FA, or are yout full pay? That is a major difference for Internationals at most US schools.
@GA2012MOM I can pay, but it does not mean if I get FA I would deny it! That is why I wanted to know how many Indians get FA.
If your parents have the means to pay, when they fill out FA forms, you most likely will not qualify for aid. Are you saying your parents can pay $250,000 for your education? if so, how great that you will have many options!
@GA2012MOM And one more thing, if you don’t apply for FA during admission, will it never be offered throughout the course of 4 years or is it based on the grades you get in the college.
@Deebthik
If you don’t apply for FA for the first year, you won’t get it in subsequent years either.
If you can pay, that means you won’t be able to get much, if not at all.
Also, “How many Indian got financial aids in stanford” is a pointless question. Why does it matter? Your circumstances and others aren’t same
@GA2012, the OP’s score has risen in the past week so we don’t know how much information is really forthcoming form this poster.http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1730063-what-are-my-chances-of-getting-into-the-highly-selective-colleges-in-usa.html#latest
If your parents can pay, it means you don’t qualify for financial aid (which is for students whose parents can’t pay, by definition). You may qualify for merit aid (which is based on grades) but the schools you mentioned don’t offer merit aid since they don’t have to (all their applicants are merit-worthy).
