Thanks NYmom for the tip! Just printed my list of NYC Caribbean bakeries. Will not come home tomorrow night without a black cake, AND a good old American fruit cake.

I am a guy. Your husband would not like much of what I would want. But here are my suggestions: 1. YES to the GPS suggested by one of the first posters; there are some great bargains out there. I paid $600 for a great Garmin Street Pilot a few years ago; now you can get a better one for $200 plus. Be sure to get one that talks directions to you and doesn’t just show you. 2. Check out the Boston Acoustic Recepter alarm radio for $150. GREAT sound, wonderful way to make station settings, can set two times a day for the alarm. 3. A new mattress and box spring for your bed if the one you have is not up to par. We just got one , and the difference in my life and back is amazing. 4. You said he doesn’t follow sports. Any chance he would enjoy fly fishingand/or fly tying (you said he likes technical stuff). It’s a whole new world, and you could give him a lesson or lessons for either – if there are places to flyfish near where you live. 4. Lessons in anything else he has never done but might appeal to him - painting, building a boat … anything.

NYMomof2,

Hope he likes the game! At the very least he will know you put some thought into it and it will be a surprise.

There are some odd things on ebay, and now and again they have something that is absolutely PERFECT for someone that you would never find in a store.

Even though it seems like every $$ is going to DD education…I did get my DH a software pkg that he can use to transcribe his music. My DD picked it out. He plays his piano/MIDI and it records the notes onto sheet music. He should have hours of fun with that as he enjoys ‘writing’ new songs. He is also getting a new Tommy Bahama summer blazer. Both purchased online-so no mall shopping-yahoo! Gas is now running $3.71/gallon!

Thanks to this thread.

I was heading out to the mall after a 7-3 shift on Thursday to find something for H…4 sick calls so I stay till 7:30 and leave starving and too tired for the mall.
After a meal, a little internet relaxation and someone one this thread (God Bless Whoever You Are!) recommended the USB turntable. The lightbulb goes on over my tired brain and if all goes well it will arrive 12/24. UPS is posting an ‘exception’ for this delivery but the agent I spoke with said it is in delivery mode but just missed the scanner on the way out of the facility.

Merry Christmas All!

The gift was delivered a while ago - that you so much for everyone who posted suggestions on this and the boy gift threads. I’ve bought several things that I would not have thought of on my own, and I’m in reasonable shape.

Merry Christmas, Happy Channukah, and Happy New Year to all!

One of my husband’s gifts was a print out of my posts on the thread:

(printed and wrapped up prettily). It was a big hit!

^^^^ Cute idea!! And it fit perfectly and was just the right price! :D

A little late for this year, but [Celestron SkyScout Website](http://www.celestron.com/skyscout/index.php) looks like a fun (if expensive) gadget.

I gave my H overalls to wear for yardwork. He had mentioned awhile back that he thought some would be handy.
