As usual, I’m devoid of ideas for Christmas gifts for my husband. I am in good shape for my sons, thanks to all the posters who responded to my other thread.

I’ve ordered the usual unexciting clothing, CDs, etc. Would love to think of something he won’t be expecting.

All ideas welcome! My husband does not follow sports, does not read non-technical books, does not watch television or enjoy movies, except for WW2 documentaries and we already have every one ever made.

I asked for and got a GPS for Christmas. Don’t NEED one, but WANT one. It is a gadget, big boy toy, etc. I think guys in general like big boy toys. I like tools too. Anything cordless is cool. A dremmel if he doesn’t have one is great.

I got my husband a turntable that connects to the computer so that one can put all their old albums on CD. Actually gave it to him for his birthday last week–he hasn’t had time yet to sit down and do any, but he seemed excited about it.

woody, I think there are multiples of these hard-to-buy for men!

We have GPS systems in both cars - I consider them necessities now.

He already has a ridiculous collection of tools, power and non-power. Every imaginable size wrench, screwdriver, I don’t even know the names of all the things he has in every possible size (in both metric and English systems).

Does he play any musical instruments (I’m thinking new guitar strings/amp/tuner, or drum heads, etc.)?
My H is hard to buy for as well! One year I got him a nice Seiko wristwatch, which he really liked even though he already had a watch (can always use an extra, especially if it’s a different style or color). Another year I got him a new digital camera which he enjoys. He’s an engineer so just about any kind of technical gadget is appreciated. He also has horrible taste in clothes (did I mention that he’s an engineer?), so I always get him at least a couple clothing items.
My son also is a tech-only (non-fiction) reader. I’m getting him Bill Bryson’s book, “A Short History of Nearly Everything”. Maybe some books on WWII?
Also- other little gadgets for the car? (ex: tire pressure guage)
My H likes any kind of tools for outside, but we really don’t need anything like a leaf blower, edger/trimmer right now.

No musical instruments, has a watch and wouldn’t want a second one, has a digital camera and every imaginable car gadget (gifts from me on previous occasions), doesn’t drink hard liquor, doesn’t have old records. I may get him the sleep pillow, mathmom. He snores so loudly that I often sleep in the guest room.

I have the same problem. Husband’s birthday is today and no present yet. He actually would be happy if I got him nothing. He hates getting gifts.
I am thinking about the turntable.
The other thing I am thinking about is getting him all new ski long underwear, socks and gloves. Over the years with the kids gaining on him in size he can never find what he needs. Always a scramble before each trip. Since they are expensive he just makes due.
How about a picture frame with pics of the kids. or one of those photo calendars.
Nice wine bottle opener.
Does he participate in any sports. Tennis?
How about arranging a babysitter and tickets or dinner or a night at a hotel for the two of you.
My husband didn’t think he wanted a ipod but got one when my son got his laptop. If your husband doesn’t have one you could load it with songs that you and the kids pick. And include a car kit so he can use it in the car.
The best gift my husband ever got from someone was a chainsaw. Strange but useful.

A leather footstool cube which stores stuff, perfect to park the computer on top of and all assorted stuff inside; shoe trees; large cedar hangars for good coats; messenger bag…???

My special gift was an inscribed book by the author.

We also have a tradition of giving an ornament for xmas, last yr it was his college alma mater. TY he is retiring from the AF, so I got him and AF ornament.

What about digital frame for his desk…or an ipod if he works out/runs

I’m not sure if he likes to listen to music but my H was pleasantly surprised when I gave him the Bose CD/radio a couple of years ago. It was not cheap but he listens to it so often, it has been worth it.

I’ve done the framed photos of kids in past years - no time to do anything like that now. I got him a very good CD player/radio for his desk last year.

One great gift I thought of a few Christmasas ago - an antique map of the city in Europe where he grew up, nicely framed. In case anyone else is reading this thread for ideas!

We’ve been married for 27 years, and it’s hard to keep coming up with new gift ideas. One year I got him a gift certificate for a massage - and he never used it!
