I realized that I’m getting confusing with all these GFs.
One is the godfather and one is the girl friend, LOL.
The dog LOVES his Bark Box! I was really surprised at the quality, he doesn’t realize it’s a subscription yet, can’t wait until he gets the next one!
" he doesn’t realize it’s a subscription yet"
Thanks for the chuckle.
I got my older son, who is never excited about gifts, dog agility equipment. His GF sent me a rare picture with a smile when they got home and he was putting it together.
I got some Lulu Lemon fleece lined tights that I thought about returning, but decided to keep (expensive but wonderful). I also love my athleta gifts, and the athleta gifts I gave were were well received.
@doschicos he’s a smart dog but it’ll take two or three or four months for him to figure out he’s getting one every month:-) He * does* know which stocking is his btw!
Big hit with my S was a Kuhl 1/4 zip fleece – has worn it almost every day since xmas. Mine was a bottle of Caymus gifted to me by H that we opened New Year’s Day.
I am really enjoying my Alexa (Echo) . My nephew seemed to like the little car I gave them that follows a line you draw with a marker.
My biggest hits were with the stockings- my 10-year-old nephew loved the “fart machine” I picked up for him (his mom liked it less!). My daughter loved the iphone accessories I bought her- a disco ball, a fan, lenses for the iphone camera and a karyoke mic. And my autistic 16-year-old nephew got a kick out of the hex bugs and hex bug habitat I bought him. My sister-in-law got a really likes the socks I bought her- one sock is a peanut butter jar and the other is a jelly jar (she always says she and her fiancé go together like “peanut butter and jelly”). In all, a good stocking year. Oh, and I bought my daughter a plane ticket to go to the music festival at her college (she is taking a semester or year off for anxiety but really wanted to attend the music festival).
The Sam’s Club backpacks that were mentioned on another thread were a big hit with DD and her husband. They travel quite a bit and usually only take a backpack. They were quite happy. DH was happy with a light puffy jacket that is also good for traveling. Our dog is thrilled with a stuffed alligator made by Kong that so far is still in one piece. I received an Echo and am enjoying it (her?). I am surprised as how touched I was by a calendar that my dh gave me. I didn’t need one but he found one of the Appalachian Trail. I had hiked a small portion this year with some friends and it really pleased me. 7 year old grandson favorite was surprisingly a Bad Kitty book. He quit opening presents to read it!
Also surprising to me was how much I enjoyed Christmas with the in-laws this year. We decided on no presents but my mother-in-law wanted us to write a poem, song or something about the person who we were assigned. I rolled my eyes but it actually turned out to be a lot of fun! There were short poems, stories, songs and my dh did a quiz show (6 questions) about his brother-in-law. It was very wonderful.
The books I gave were all hits (Michael Connelly, The German Girl, The Alice Network). I even received 4 that I didn’t remember even listing.
Gifts given: Minnetonka shearling slippers, the new (larger) kitchenaid mixer.
Gift received: deluxe sonicare toothbrush
I made a fleece blanket (favorite baseball team) for one brother. He’d asked for it last year when I made them for my young nephews (favorite hockey team). This caused much jealousy from daughter (quickly made her one) and another brother. I will be sewing a lot to make amends.
My sister, niece and mother were happy with their fleece lined socked (store bought)
Electronic yodeling pickle…
Lol @Hunt ! I had to google that to find out what it was. Did you know that there is also yodeling bacon?
The best received gift I gave this year was a cheese of the month subscription I gave to my DS’s GF. It is coming from a cheese shop we all discovered while on vacation together. She really enjoys cheese, and seems excited to be getting a regular shipment that will remind her of our nice trip.
Hits: our girls got Hamilton tickets, my 5 yo nephew for one of his gifts I gave him a framed photo of all 5 cousins together and he was SO EXCITED, my other nephew loved the 3 foot long nerf gun. My best gift (I actually got 2! it’s so fitting) is a mug that says: All I want to do is drink coffee, rescue dogs, and nap.
I got my SIL a 1000 piece puzzle of the front page of the NYT on the date of his birth. Maybe he can do it on the snow day tomorrow!
D2 who is into a minimalist lifestyle and returns almost everything I get her…loved her Aveda Stress Fix Body Creme and the Oxo handheld spiralizer.
My mom was a music teacher, and kept her songs on handwritten index cards. She gave me a whole box of them and I made them into ornaments, one for every single one of us to keep. My nieces cried! My son was most excited by a KitchenAid his grandparents & uncles went in on and gave him!
The gift that meant the most was given to my fiance and I together from a friend in Canada. She sings and plays the guitar and she wrote us a short song and sent it to us. We could tell it was heartfelt because we could hear the tears in her voice as she sang. We could not stop crying happy tears as we listened to it.
I usually don’t put a list together for things I would like , but I did this year. I was having fun on Etsy with some antiques and smaller things that I liked. One of my favorites was a hand-made oval shaker box. I didn’t realize at the time that I faorited it, that they are made by two teenage boys that use the money they earn to pay for a trip to Ireland. I was impressed with their entrepreneurial spirit
I bought my husband an electric smoker which he really liked. We have been smoking various things. So far the favorite was salmon
DH buys me whatever we see on commercials for Searching for Rocks and Sticks (Oak Island). Last year it was a Kitchenaid mixer. This year it was a YOGA laptop.
