Holiday gifts that were hits

A SNOWBLOWER we got each other. It was delivered on December 8, and will be Christened within the next hour or so.

We got two of our couple-children Instapots, big hit! The other couple already had one. They’re all so busy so this will be great for them.

DNA testing kit.

Our D is happy with our paying for her car insurance, registration renewal and phone bill until she graduates in May.

My mother has always signed all her cards to kids and grandkids in the exact same way. The big hit were key chains engraved in her handwriting the exact way she signs her cards. Others in the family are now placing orders for them.

For me, a new gym bag and foam gasket swimming goggles (hard to find these days)
For H, a fake stuffed bunny head mounted like a hunting trophy for his new brewery.
For DS, a hip flask from his sister. (He turns 21 this month.)
For DD, a fiance!

@raclut, I bought myself a massive long winter coat from Eddie Bauer last year. I look like a navy blue sausage, but it is the warmest coat I’ve ever owned and I absolutely love it.

A PUPPY! :x

A session of cat yoga was my best present this year. Baby kiddo scored a home run there.

DSO ( Daughters Significant Other, haha) really liked the KitchenAid spiralizer attachment he got. Have already received videos of it being used. Haha, whatever rocks your boat.

H loved the watch I gave him. Has already had comments admiring the watch from other. Of course, I often give him a watch because he likes to collect them. So this was not a surprise hit.

I gave D’s new boyfriend a shirt that he already had and it was his favorite shirt. We had a good laugh about it. D and bf were going to exchange the shirt. Over Christmas bf got in a wrestling match with his brother and tore his favorite shirt. But he had a backup and still has his favorite shirt.

I got a Snapchat tonight with bf in his favorite new/old shirt.

DS2’s bday present to me was on back-order (December birthday) so I just got it this week … the Pete Souza book of Obama photographs. I cried. Ds gets me. :x

^^^ This was a pre-Christmas gift to myself and I cry and smile each time I look at it. It is a beautiful, beautiful book of history and photography.

The “expensive for what they are” gifts are the ones people have really expressed happiness with. These include things in all price ranges. Like Trish Macavoy eye Shadow Pencil, Jo Malone bath Gel, Nest Fragrance Diffuser, Tumi make up case, Thermapen. Things people are hesitant to buy for themselves even if they can afford them.

Yds raving about the InstaPot. Home run! Yay!

Our kids gave us a water rower. So far, since we unboxed it, we have all used it several times/day for short sessions. Yay!

@HImom, Great gift from the kids, beautiful AND functional.

Yes, D is very proud that they found something that we will actually USE. It is also pretty kind to joints and involves 85% of your muscles–who knew? There is no excuse for bad weather or uneven ground and takes up only slightly more space than a grandfather clock when you up it upright. It was recommended to D by her rheumatologist as a gentle but mostly full-body exercise which can get you and keep you in aerobic exercise zone.

Got son a $10 Sherpa lined fleece at Job Lot because it felt so nice. When he was checking it out at home he noticed the button’s said LL Bean. He unstiched the label inside the shirt and sure enough it was covering an LL Bean tag. Score!

Alexa for dh, derek lamb perfume for dd2, a beautiful suade skirt for dd1, and a year’s subscription to Acorn TV for me! Most of the credit goes to dd1 for spending time brainstorming what to give. So blessed.
