Holiday Happys

I’ve had a number of places to go, things to do in the past 48 hours, and I’m amazed with the patient, cheerful people out there.

The doctor’s office that squeezed in Mom for an appointment today and the front office staff that made it happen.
The checkers at Costco, Bed Bath and Beyond, Half Price Books, and Trader Joes who smiled and were pleasant (and the lack of cranks in the lines!)
The SA at Nordstrom who not only knew how to fold and wrap a blouse, but did it cheerfully and made the Nordys bag look like a gift bag at the end.
The knock at the door this evening - out there in the pouring rain was a girl who was dropping off the book that had been mis-delivered to her house. My faith in humanity restored!

Had a lovely relaxing breakfast at a BOWLING ALLEY (really), with girlfriends today. We all had a nice time chatting and catching up. It was fun and for all 5 of us was only $45 or so, which I thought was very reasonable. I am so happy to have my kids and all the nieces and nephews coming in for town. It will be a lot of fun.

Cashiers I have had have been cheery and nice and helpful. My neighbors are nice and have given us some fresh basil that I put in some pasta tonight. It was great with fresh mini-portabellas, sun-dried tomatoes, pasta and capers.

I’m ever so grateful for our allergist who was delighted with the lovely Seiko watch D and I gifted her with for her years and years of help with getting through allergies and more.

My S took my D out to dinner this evening while H and I wrapped gifts. They came home with Gingerbread House kits! So that’s what we did tonight - nice way to spend time together.

My local Costco has an upstairs and a downstairs parking lot. To get to the downstairs, you have to take an elevator, because you have a cart filled with stuff. Yesterday one of the elevators (there are two) wasn’t working correctly – two men were on it, and when I pressed the button to call an elevator, theirs kept opening up instead of going downstairs. One of the men got cranky with me and said something like, Stop pushing the button!

Later, after they got downstairs and I got downstairs on the other elevator, the second man apologized for the first man’s words. They didn’t know each other and it didn’t really bother me, but it was lovely that the second fellow said something.
