<p>He and my in-laws took her to the emergency pet hospital in Boston, where she’ll stay overnight with her little bunny IV and wait for the exotic pet vet to see her first thing in the morning. The vets who were in tonight were not rabbit specialists, but they think she probably has an ear infection, which can be cured easily with antibiotics.</p>
<p>So everything will probably be fine. But I am just 800 miles away and worried about my poor baby sleeping all by herself at the hospital. :(</p>
<p>Oh, mollie, I’m so sorry about your sweet little bunny being under the weather! I am sure that she will be just fine…it’s great that she’s getting such wonderful care. She’ll be back with your fiance in no time! If she’s like lots of animals (and people), she won’t mind sleeping by herself if she’s not feeling well, though I know you are worried about her and feeling the separation yourself.</p>
<p>My oldest D is a HUGE animal lover. We have four dogs, three cats, two guinea pigs and some fish. We used to have bunnies and iguanas too. And like my D, I am an animal “softie,” so I can truly understand your feelings. </p>
<p>Hang in there…your little bunny will be fine, O.K.? Let us know what the exotic pet vet says in the morning. Meanwhile, I’ll be keeping your bunny in my thoughts and wishing her a FULL and FAST recovery. </p>

<p>Oh, I empathize with you over your bunny’s illness. I am a bunny lover too, and know how quickly they can become sick. I hope that your beloved bun is OK or recovers quickly. My bunny had surgery a couple of weeks ago. I had thought that I was being overcautious to take her to the vet, but it ended up that she had a bladder stone, and needed surgery right away. She has recovered wonderfully even though the stone was as big as a large marble, which the vet said was as big as her bladder.</p>
<p>molliebatmit: here’s hoping that your little “girl” is doing better today. I’m thinking that the pet hospital you are talking about is the one that we took our little kitty to the day I accidentally hit her with my car while she was sunning in the driveway. She is mostly an indoor kitty, but goes outside tied on a 30’ leash. My in-laws were visiting that day, and mother-in-law is not a cat lover, so my H put her outside for awhile. I was not paying attention (talking on the cellphone - there is another lesson here - LOL) and didn’t see her when I turned into the driveway. After a frantic drive to the animal hospital 25 miles away (of course, it was a Sunday) - she came home the next day, very bruised, but luckily intact with no broken bones or internal injuries. It was a very expensive lesson on my part - but she is a member of the family and there was no way we were not going to do whatever it cost to help her get better. And, your fiance is right - the care and concern at those pet hospitals rival the best human hospitals in the Boston area! Keep us posted on her progress.</p>
<p>We also had a pet emergency yesterday. We found an entire bottle of pet medication chewed open and consumed, about 20 pills! But which (of the four) dogs had done it? Fortunately, my wife works in a veterinary clinic so, after she induced vomiting, we were able to take the dogs into the clinic. My wife drew blood from each and ran each sample through the blood chemistry analyzer. They all looked fairly normal, but she had one of the vets also look. The dog we most suspected had a slightly high reading in the indicator my wife was looking for, but it was not a dangerous level. I think the vomiting got out most of the meds. They all seem fine now.</p>
<p>My little 2-year old Bedlington is in the hospital as we speak, for ingesting ibuprofen (my son’s prescription from his wisdom teeth extraction last week). </p>
<p>He is very sick, and may have permanent kidney damage. His kidney tests are not good, but the one today will be important. If it’s worse than the one yesterday, well… He also is not eating, last night I brought him some chicken hoping he’ll try that, and keep it down. He probably has ulcerations too…</p>
<p>We have two dogs, but one is a “rule minder” and wouldn’t think of getting involved in the other’s naughty activities. So that’s lucky I guess.</p>

<p>Pets always just pick the right time to get sick, don’t they? Holidays and weekends only!</p>
<p>The bunny vet took one look at poor little Abigail this morning and said, “That is an ear infection!” So she will be started on antibiotics today, and we will take her back in two weeks for a checkup. All things considered, an ear infection is probably the best thing she could have – like Northstarmom said, bunnies are pretty fragile, and they can get very sick very quickly.</p>
<p>Apparently she was a model patient, and all the vet techs stopped by to pet her and coo at her. She’s a bit of an attention hound, so I’m sure other than the pain of the ear infection, she had a very enjoyable night. :)</p>
<p>Our pet bunny “Twinkie” had a similar illness last summer. He was “flopping,” couldn’t stand up, eyes rolling back, skinny.<br>
By the time we took him to the vet, I thought all they could do was put him out of his misery–but after antibiotics/extra food he was as good as new in a couple weeks. Hope your bunny gets well soon!</p>
<p>oooo now i’m worried!! We left our 2 bunnies at home in their “condo” with the neighbors looking after them. I’m assuming all is ok as they (the neighbors) haven’t called. One of our bunnies had head tilt once and he looked so pathetic! Luckily the antibiotics worked. Good luck to your bunny!</p>
<p>My fiance reports that Miss Bunny is home again, and looks good as new. She’s apparently back to running around and being happy. My fiance is now learning the joy of trying to get an animal to take medicine – the bunny loves her anti-inflammatory medicine, but is not so fond of her antibiotic.</p>
<p>I’m so glad she’s better. I was so worried on Sunday night! I can’t even imagine how awful I’m going to be when I have kids. :)</p>

<p>I have 2 rabbits, who were bonded before one had surgery 2 weeks ago. Before then, they never fought. One could even snatch food out of the other’s mouth, and her sister wouldn’t fight.</p>
<p>However, after the bunny returned home (the same day) after surgery, they haven’t seemed to recognize each other. I’d thought it was the smell of the medicine the one who had surgery was taking, however she’s been off that now for days, and they still start fighting when they see each other. This even happens when I try to reintroduce them in a neutral area that neither has been to before.</p>
<p>Oh, MOLLIE!!! I’m so happy to hear of your baby bunny-girl’s recovery! Sounds like she’s back to her old mischievous self already! I was wondering how it was going with the meds…I guess this is another situation that provides great practice for future children!!
