College of the Holy Cross or Providence College for mathematics. Price with merit awards is essentially the same.
Have you visited both? What are your thoughts?
What does the student prefer?
Has the student checked the online course catalog (check both required core classes and classes in major).
This is especially important if the student is highly advanced in math (has completed college math beyond single variable calculus while in high school). Don’t forget to check frequency of offering.
Holy Cross is more academically rigorous and has more of a serious student body than Providence College. Not even close- especially given same cost of attendance, I’d choose HC. If you have AP calculus scores of 4/5, you skip calculus AB and straight to Calculus BC. HC STEM departments are strong and given your interest in math, the consortium with WPI gives you added opportunities to supplement courses from that excellent institution. Congratulations on your acceptance to Holy Cross- 17% acceptance for Class of ‘30.
