George Lucas Donates USC's Largest Single Gift

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas, through a foundation, plans to make a blockbuster donation to USC of $175 million — the university's biggest single gift ever — to build a new home for its prestigious film school.

Unfortunately, the "t" is tsdad is in his last year at the film school and will never see the new facilities.

There are already two buildings on the USC campus with the Lucas name; one for him; one for his (ex?) wife.

I know they have some nice facilities now but when Lucas was at USC, I remember the film building! It was a broken down wooden structure. I remember attending a class taught by Jerry Lewis and being a stand in on some experimental projects. Those were the glory days. :)

Maybe they should rename the school - LUCaS (Lucas University California -Southern):)

Nah. I wouldn't rush to do that until I see how much Spielberg comes up with. For a non-alumnus, and rejectee from the film school, he's been mighty generous.

From USC website: Steven Spielberg Music Scoring Stage includes a recording studio (large enough to hold 50 musicians), a new digital console, and state-of-the art recording equipment.
