Home-schooled Teen Interested in SCA?

Hello! I am currently being home-schooled in the 9th grade, and I am truly interested in film. I’m would be very happy to see if anybody has tips, ideas, or any help for me.
I have looked on their website, and I see they require homeschoolers to have 3 SAT Subject Tests and a very descriptive transcript. But what about their film/tv production program?

Thank you so much!

Did you go online and look at the School of Cinematic Arts’ application process? On the website, you’ll see all the requirements for preparing your SCA supplement application. Get ready for a big project. There’s a lot to do. But since your are a 9th grader, you have some time to plan.

Good luck. We know an amazing young woman in SCA who was home-schooled and she’s doing extremely well at USC.

A big project? Do mean as a short movie to send in to SCA, or the general senior year project?

Also-I don’t know how much you know the home-schooled lady, but what did she do? Any advice from her, or anything special she did?

“Alot to do”…may you go in more detail, please?

Thanks!

As I suggested above, you can look up what is needed on the USC SCA admissions website. Here’s the link. [Undergraduate Application Procedures - USC School of Cinematic Arts](http://cinema.usc.edu/production/undergradprocedures.cfm) Read it all carefully and good luck.

tofugirl…the creative based schools within USC require some form of demonstrated creativity as part of the application. For example Roski, the fine arts school wants to see a portfolio, Thornton, the music school, requires auditions, and SCA also requires that you submit some form of creative talent…whether it’s in the form of a short film, or drawings, or writing (depending on the particular department within SCA you are applying to).
This is in addition to the regular application of grades, courses, and ECs.

That’s what madbean meant…a project. You have lots of time so you can start thinking about how you would like to present a portfolio and perhaps figuring out ideas of what you’d like to include.

USC-SCA application process is very specific. Note that the app. deadline for incoming freshmen is Dec. 1 - earlier than most.
