Home Sickness/Stress

So I know it may be early for this but…
I went to a school (SUNY Buffalo) that is around 6/7 hours away. Everyday since I have been really distracted and crying because of how much I miss it…
I made new friends (around 10 and see them daily, joined 2 clubs, go to all the on campus events) but there is still this pit in my stomach that makes me miss home terribly. I feel like I made such a big mistake coming here because I am from a small town and not use to the big school scene and really feel like I will not academically succeed since I am mentally not happy here…

I was considering transferring (since I only have two weeks before my classes are marked on the transcript) to a local community college and trying that for one semester just to see if I was to stay home (I am studying nursing so I can get my ASN and then go off to another local school for my BSN), but I cant tell if that is the right thing to do.

I worked my butt off to get where I am and I dont want to disappointed my parents or self by now attending a community college.

Let me know what you think, thanks(=

If you’ve made friends, you’re ahead of the curve. Give it time.

@bodangles I am really trying but I just feel miserable here…I dont know how much longer I can wait):

How long have you been there – a week or two? Can you think of another time you had to deal with such a momentous change? If you have one (and a lot of students won’t, as going off to college is the biggest upheaval in their lives thus far) then I highly doubt you got used to whatever it was in a couple of days. Go check out the school’s counseling services if you feel really down. Otherwise – there are a ton of other threads like this right now. I’ve probably commented on at least three today alone. Everyone’s in the same boat, and for most people it gets better.
