Homeschooled applicants

Any homeschooled applicants in here? Wondering (for next year) how many standardized test scores are needed.

I’m not a homeschooled applicant myself, but I found this. It may be able to help.

“All applicants, including home schooled students, are expected to take the SAT with Essay or the ACT with Writing. Two SAT Subject tests are recommended but not required. Some home schooled students choose to take more than two to further demonstrate their academic breadth in the absence of traditional grades. In addition, some prepare for and take Advanced Placement (AP) tests in subjects they have studied at an advanced level.”

The quote that @Amduseus posted seems to indicate that home schooled applicants need to go the extra mile to demonstrate they’re academically well prepared.

Princeton is very very academically rigorous (and very scholarly) so the more standardized tests you can list, the better to help provide outside objective validation of your academic abilities. My two homeschooled children (now Princeton alumni) presented scores from two SATs, 3+ SAT Subject Tests, and 4+ APs when they applied the fall of their senior year. Fortunately, Princeton admission committee is homeschool friendly.

My daughter, a current sophomore, was homeschooled. She had four SAT subject tests, six AP test scores, and her SAT score. She did not do the ACT. Not at all sure if all the testing helped her, but that is what she did.

There seems to be quite a few homeschooled students at Princeton, and many more students who were homeschooled in the early part of their education.
