<p>My plan was to return to school this spring semester and transferring to a 4 year college/university in fall of 2008. However, I wasn’t able to enroll in any classes that were most important for my transfer, and now I’m kind of stuck. I was wondering if it’s possible to study by myself and then ask whoeve that is in charge at each department (English, Mathematics, Bio, etc.) if I could take the final at the end of the spring semester? (or a test that would allow me to go on to the next level without taking the course, if they have any)</p>
<p>I’m planning to buy the very text books that are used for the courses that I wanted to take this spring and study them since I have access to the syllabus. I will be making my own schedule and seriously study as if I am attending the courses.</p>
<p>My question is, would they think it’s weird that my application doesn’t carry courses that are taken in freshman year by most people and only carry sophomore courses when I apply at four year uni’s next year?
Also, I will be looking into this subject, but isn’t there a minimum number of units that you must have completed in order to apply to transfer?</p>
<p>Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

<p>^ I would just take a few of these tests. They are like the AP test for adults. </p>
<p>What you are speaking of makes no real sense and I do not mean that in a trollish way. I mean that what you are speaking of is a big gamble unless you have assurance from the department heads that you can do it.</p>
<p>It’s funny that you mentioned CLEP, because I was also thinking of taking CLEP tests instead of going through hassle of seeing a counselor and meeting the person-in-charge at each department to request for arranging a test for me. </p>
<p>Though, one thing about CLEP is that it only has up to Calculus for mathematics. I actually took Calculus in my freshman year of high school and kept up with the subject, so I was looking to earn credits for both Calculus 1 and 2. I guess I’ll have to see someone at my college in regard to Calculus 2, eh?</p>
<p>Lastly, I just get units for completely(passing) these tests, but no grades, which mean their scroes won’t count toward my future GPA. I guess this means my GPA will solely depend on the subjects that I will be taking next semester. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not :P</p>
<p>hmm…yeah and the CLEP test for the lower level calc disallows calculators. So, hmm…I do not know. Have you thought of BYU online or the University of Tennessee online? Those two schools have a pretty sweet indy studies set up. </p>

<p>You could see if your school has a placement exam for calc. If you already took the frosh version of calc as a younger person and kept up with it, then the placement exam would be no big deal. </p>
