Hi, I’ve been reading this thread it I thought it was quite interesting so I just joined CC. There seems to be so much arguing and hate (which is very depressing) yet at the same time a lot of strong arguments. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I do not wish to argue. I am not trying to force my opinions just trying to share objective scientific information and shed light on the subject. I am quite confident that I know more about the biological reasons that an individual would be homosexual than any one else here. I know that sounds pompous but I have huge binders on the subject that have been highlighted on so much theres barely any white left on the paper (lol I swear I really am that much of a nerd!). I guess you could say that I am obsessed. I will try to give you as much info in the time I have but I can’t give to much because I g2g study for my really, really, scary exams… also I probably won’t have any time to post links but I can try to come back later and give them to you if you want them…

OK enough jiber jaber-here is “da break-down”:

Most well respected researchers in the modern scientific community that study gender difference and associated phenomenon believe that homosexuality is in fact not fully genetic but still something you are born with. They believe that it has more to do with excess or lack of prenatal androgens (the male hormones a fetus gets). Part of the reason why we are almost sure that it is not entirely genetic is because it is not incredibly uncommon for two identical twins to be born with different sexual orientations, however at the same time we know that fraternal twins are more likely to both be homosexual if one is. Also, if identical twins are born with different orientations the one that is gay will usually weigh less. This all suggest that the cause is influenced by genetics (I believe most current studies say the most likely spot is on the 8th chromosome and several others which I cant recall off the top of my head) but determined also by another pre-birth factor. This is where those prenatal androgens come into play. The physical differences of a homosexual could easily be contributed to prenatal androgen levels. If youre all like “well just hold your horses there, mister! I knos darn well da gays and straits are physically the same!” which is probably like a lot of people who are reading this… any way I am speaking on statistical averages, nothing here is black and white nor is it concrete (most researches will say that the work was not definitive even when it is statistically significant at the .05 level(thats considered pretty significant in the scientific community.) I think this is due to the controversy surrounding the subject but thats jus an opinion… ).

Oops got side tracked… ok lets see…

Ooo ya I remember now! Ok some of the physical differences would be as follows:

Larger hypothalamus
Larger Corpus callosum
Higher levels of testosterone
Larger genitalia
Abnormal reactions to artificial hormones
2D:4D ratios (your pointer finger compared to your ring)
A higher chance of being left handed (linked to larger Corpus callosum)

These aren’t even all just some of the most relevant ones, also remember these are just statistical likely hoods so just because your finger length ratio is either hyper feminized or masculinized it doesnt mean that your gay, It just means you are statistically more likely to be gay. It may seem ridiculous to think that gay men have different finger length ratios than straight men but it has been a well established indicator of prenatal hormone levels for quite some time.
One more interesting point I would like to make is that while much of a homosexual man’s body is hyper-masculinized it seems that the part of brain that isn’t hyper-masculinized functions in a way very similarly to a female brain. Many studies show that homosexual men tend to exhibit spatial navigation patterns more similar to the average female than to the average male…

I have so much more information I like to share with you guys but like I said I g2g go cram for finals. I will probably be back to share more later on.

Oh one last thing, this is supposed to be a college site right? Well, I was wondering if any one knew which colleges were friendlier towards homosexuals. I am pretty discrete about it but would like to find a place where I can fell safe…

Thanks for listening.

I wish you all a super happy hyper-awesome day!
