“Nope. Women love me. I’ve had at least a dozen women tell me that I’m their “ideal guy” and I was unanimously voted most attractive guy by the group of 20 senior girls who live in my building.”

Ha. That’s another phenomenon. You are just too young to find out what women are made of. Because you look perfect and/or are built so perfect, you probably look more beautiful and lovely than women. Women are not as angelic or beautiful to you as they are to most men. Young girls don’t know how to pretend to be sophisticated and most of time act too shallow. Not deep enough for you. When things are easy to obtain, they become not attractive any more. Evidently women are not a challenge to you. Too much attention becomes annoying which is a very natural reaction because those young girls just want to take advantage of you if you let them do it. Whether they really care about you is totally another issue.

That is where the line was drawn. Men and women are made for each other. Skin colors are just what the Earth does to us. My parents have much darker skin than me because they live in subtropical area. My skin used to be much darker. A while after I moved to the North, it turned paler.

Silly me. I thought that just because someone or something had neither the legal nor physical ability to give consent for any form of contract, it would be unable to enter into a legally binding contractual relationship. Apparently, because some males are attracted to other males and some women are attracted to other women and some people are attracted to horses, by allowing men to marry men and women to marry women, you’d have to allow people to marry whatever they’re sexually attracted to: young children, horses, trees.

And Jasmincn’s analysis of me (you’re gay because you can’t get a girl to be interested in you … oh, you have lot’s of girls interested in you? … then you’re gay because too many girls are interested in you.) took this argument to the point of absolute stupidity. I feel like I have better things to do - like my boyfriend.

An African moving to the Arctic will never turn pale, no matter how little sun he gets. He will turn paler than he was in Africa, but he will never be as pale as a Caucasian. It’s frankly ridiculous to say that homosexual relations are closer to bestiality than they are to interracial relations. At least one is staying in the same species.

Interracial marriage was never and is not illegal according to the US Constitution. It’s not an issue at all. You don’t need to legalize something already legal.

“I thought that just because someone or something had neither the legal nor physical ability to give consent for any form of contract, it would be unable to enter into a legally binding contractual relationship.”

How about cousins or even a brother and a sister? They all have legal and physical ability to give consent.

“And Jasmincn’s analysis of me (you’re gay because you can’t get a girl to be interested in you … oh, you have lot’s of girls interested in you? … then you’re gay because too many girls are interested in you.) took this argument to the point of absolute stupidity.”

Maybe it’s because of your age. You haven’t had chance to find out, experiment, and experience to determine what is for you. But maybe it will be too late anyway when you get older. You would have been forever gone. May you find your happiness and fantasy land!

“How about cousins or even a brother and a sister? They all have legal and physical ability to give consent.”

You don’t think brothers and sisters have gotten married? Apparently you’ve never been to the deep south.

And frankly jasmincn, you’re missing the whole point. It doesn’t matter whether or not we personally feel it is ok for two guys to love each other, or two brothers to marry, the point is, we don’t have the right to make that decision for everyone. How arrogant you must be if you believe your view is so right, the only view possible, that we must make it into law so that others can’t do something they choose, in the privacy in their own home.

And before you reply with some other stupid remark like you’ve made above, why don’t you just think for a moment about what you’re going to say and make sure it is relevant and enlightening to the topic.

Who gives a damn? I just wish they’d shut the hell up about it and stop rubbing everyone’s face in it.

Wanna pork another guy? Have fun. Wanna munch some rug? Enjoy. JUST STOP ASKING ME TO THINK YOU’RE NORMAL.

I will tolerate the fact that you choose to be a sick puppy behind closed doors because what you do behind closed doors makes not a whit of difference to me, nor do I have the right to tell two consenting adults what they can do to each other sexually.

I will NOT, however, ever agree that what you’re doing is “normal” or “mainstream” or even moral. It’s MY right to have my opinion, and just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean I’m wrong.

They’re not asking you to think they’re normal. They’re asking you to let them marry who they love. You don’t need to think they’re normal to at least give them the same rights as you. You don’t need to approve to let them do what they will.

So why do they always seem to be seeking it, or else portraying those who don’t give it as bigotted?

Besides, a person can will their belongings to anyone they wish and give power of attorney over their lives and affairs to anyone they wish, so the legal basis of marriage is hardly an impediment to their being treated the same as anyone else.

It just seems to me they want to “marry” in order to stick their finger in the eyes of those they disagree with. After all, they side with the political group that has made marriage out to be nothing more than a means of legalized rape (if you listen to certain feminists).

Still, I say let them marry. That way they can enjoy the legal wonders of divorce, too. :(

Umm, no. They want to get married because marriage is a legal bondage that qualifies them for tax exemptions, power of attorney (despite what you said, if someone died young, and didn’t make a will, they have no legal right to the affairs of who they loved, so you were dead wrong about your above statement) and other legal benefits that you get in a marriage.

AH! I’d forgotten tax exemptions. Very true. Thanks for that reminder.

I could say the same about someone who died and wasn’t married. If they didn’t marry or didn’t get a will (in other words, if they didn’t take the steps needed to legally establish their claim) then it hardly seems to me that it’s society’s problem. It’s the problem of the person who failed to plan ahead.

They portray those who won’t let them marry as bigoted, which is true. They’re not portraying those who don’t approve as bigots.

There are many, many other benefits of marriage than just wills. Health insurance, pension, social security, adoption, custody, etc. There are over 1000 (I want to say the exact number is like 1431 or 1143 or something like that, but don’t recall for sure) laws on the books that have marriage as a requirement. You can find a list of them on the internet or I posted an excerpt earlier in this thread, or maybe the other gay marriage thread - I don’t remember which one it was.
