Hi everyone… first, about me: 3rd-year transfer at UCI; major: Asian American Studies; combined GPA: 3.8x; LSAT (practice test): 162, goal: top 10 law school, corporate or international law

My expectations are probably unrealistic, and maybe by tomorrow I’ll get over being such a worry-wart and have a better grasp on things, but here we go… I’m about to finish the second half of my undergrad years and I am now forced to choose between completing a double major (Asian Am. w/Sociology or International Studies or Global Cultures/Globalization) or using what extra time I have to pursue other classes I actually want to take. This is not to say that I don’t want to take the classes for the majors mentioned above - aside from Asian American studies, these are the other subjects I’ve enjoyed the most, and I’ve actually done pretty well in a few of their classes so far - it’s just there are certain requirements I don’t want to take because 1.) frankly, they do not appeal to me and 2.) they are going to take up most of the units alloted to me, thus hindering me from taking classes in other areas I want to be exposed to, especially those related to law school and a career in law.

I know that a second major isn’t really that huge of an advantage in terms of law school admissions (I’ve also read the same thing around here a few days ago), but if I have the resources to do so and I want that second degree under my name, then why not, right? But what is a second degree really worth in a career in law? I mean, there are all these other classes I want to take within those majors (but not all to actually complete the second major) and I have a bad feeling that if I don’t take advantage of them now, I’ll definitely regret it. If you were me, what would you do?

I know that the answer seems so obvious, and that to some I may sound so juvenile or that my concerns sound rather petty, but nonetheless, I’d really appreciate any help you guys can give me. Feel free to be honest w/your thoughts. You can be direct, even w/my major choices. I won’t take it personally :). I’m just looking for some advice… some reassurance, I guess, or maybe a dose of reality. I’d really appreciate it if you guys can give me a few moments of your time. Thanks everyone.
