imagine getting waitlisted at Wharton…you can see a glimpse of hope that one day…one day! you’ll finally enter a number of classrooms that has harbored the likes of Donald Trump, and Warren Buffet…you feel a slight tingle in the back of your bone, one that originates from the belief that says, “YES! I can be a billionaire!!”…and the day has come…the day when you see the judgment of the admission committees…you already feel honored that you are still being considered while other geniuses has already been rejected…you open the letter (or the online application status) to see your answer…and what it says was, "CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU HAVE BEEN REJECTED BY US!!! who do you think you are applying to our beautiful-beautiful Wharton? I gave you the hope of becoming great by waitlisting you and then just crush it like my dog crushed a bone i gave him this morning! HAHAHAHAHAHA trust me, your gonna need years of therapy for this.

Love,

The Wharton School

what would you do if that happens?

My son is in this same position. He is waitlisted. He has wanted to attend his college since he was 8 years old. His room has had all the college flags draped from the ceiling since he was that age. His older sister did attend this same college, and graduates with a masters degree in May. He has spent the last 5 years there, attending all her special events, and seasonal activities. He did not love it from a distance. He was there alot. In the dorms, in the restaurants, sports arenas, walking campus and even some class rooms. The wait is torture for him and I am so worried about the outcome. He qualifies, there is just too many. He did not want to apply anywhere else, but did just in case. He does not want to attend the colleges he has been accepted to. We are now looking into transfers later in the year if need be. But I fear the huge emotional crash that comes with a rejection. Keeping our fingers crossed. Even though it is not Wharton, the feelings are the same. The grades for highschool are now behind us, nothing left to climb except the emotional mountain. But it could be so great…
