Should I take Honors Anatomy and Physiology concurrently with AP Bio?
I have already decided to take AP Biology next year [junior year] in high school. But I’m very interested in medical-related subjects, so should I take Anatomy & Physiology next year? Because right now, I have Biotechnology ROP written down on my schedule, but I want to switch that for A&P…is AP Bio with Honors Anatomy too much work?

What is A&P like?

And is Biotechnology [ROP] difficult?

And how much exactly is “a lot of memorization”?
Is it more memorization than AP History facts?

Plz help! I’ve been ambivalent with my choices these days. >.>

OMG you have my EXACT dilemma! Except minus the honors on Physio/Anat.
I signed up for AP Bio and ROP Biotech but I reeeeally want to take Physio/Anat, so I am considering dropping another elective so I can take all three but I’m not sure if I could handle that.
Anyone that has comments on this pleeease?

Also, I heard at my school that ROP Biotech isn’t as hard as AP Bio because it is more lab work, and is a lot of fun.
AP Bio is a lot of memorization but more studying than homework.
Phys/anat is a LOT of memorization and a lot of homework (every night).
This is at my school at least.

I would wait to take Anatomy until after AP Bio. There was a lot of stuff in Anatomy that I would’ve had a really hard time understanding if I hadn’t taken AP Bio.

Actually it might be a good idea to take AP Chemistry first too… like the first 2 months of anatomy were all organic chemistry and I had nooooooooooooooooooooooo idea what was going on.

My teacher told me that Phys/Anat helps with the AP test for Bio, and since they are both life sciences i don’t know why the curriculum wouldn’t overlap.

anatomy/physiology is just memorization
but if you want to be premed, sounds like a good idea
i personally think bio is more worth the time
ap bio has some anatomy but not as much, only the amount you need (you dont need to memorize every bone in the body)

^ agreed. i’ve takin ap bio. a&p next year. i hear its just straight up memorization. this one kid in my ap bio took a&p concurrently, didn’t help him one bit (same with my sister) . but take it if you want to, but i really dont think itll give you any advantage whatsoever.

i think it’s a really good idea. one of my friends took A&P with AP Bio and a lot of stuff was easier for her because she remembered it from a&p.

I’d say take both. I took AP Bio last year and we were so behind, we didn’t even cover any of the anatomy sections. I don’t know how much your school’s AP Bio covers, but I’d say take Anatomy in case your class doesn’t get to it. Anatomy is a lot of work, but at least at my school, almost all of it is covered in class. I can’t say how your school works, but there’s my input and best of luck deciding. :)
