Honors Chances?

I am from Minnesota and Maryland is my top choice but I won’t go if I don’t get into honors. I have visited twice and met with faculty at the honors program.

Major: Chemistry
Rank: school doesn’t rank
ACT: 34 (English 35, Reading 36, Science 34, Math 31, Writing 9)
GPA: 3.94/4.0
AP Credits: APUSH (4), AP Comparative Government and Politics (5), AP US Gov (5), AP Language and Comp (5), this year I am taking AP Chemistry, AP Stats, and AP Euro
Activities: Young Democrats, Amnesty International, Women’s Rights Club, Orchestra (2 Varsity Letters), Piano (13 years), Cello, Summer Swim Team (Captain for 2 years, 10 year participation), Varsity Synchronized Swimming (3 Varsity Letters)
Work Experience: JCPenney since June 2014, babysitting and dogsitting since 2010

I am an AP scholar with honor and a National Merit Commended student. (Minnesota’s cutoff is relatively high, I was 2 points off)

My essays were good, short answers great
I had a very good recommendation from my favorite teacher and a recommendation from my counselor and I have a close relationship with him which is good because my school is HUGE! 3,400 students

Thanks!

You are in with honors I believe. Good luck!

Yeah I know lots of kids in honors that had worse stats, though they were in state. That said, I don’t think you’ll have any problems.

Excellent chance for Honors.
