Honors Chemistry I 0720?

I’m going to be an incoming freshman @ Pitt and I was wondering if Honors Chemistry I is a good idea to take. I don’t want to overwhelm myself the first year.

You’ll be fine. Its an alrite class.

Im a sophomore this coming year, and took this class last fall. UHC Chem 1 is a LOT of molecular based chemistry (atomic orbitals, molecular orbitals, quantum numbers, etc.). If your professor is Prof. Saxena, you will learn a lot, but he talks very fast and has an accent. The tests are all problems, and can be challenging if you don’t understand the concepts. It’s the most in depth I’ve ever gone with these kinds of topics.

UHC Chem 2 is more focused on familiar topics like thermochemistry, electrochemisty, gas laws, etc.

How does it compare to high school AP chem?

AP chem is more UHC chem 2 topics. In my AP chem class, we didn’t cover molecular orbitals or Schrodinger’s Equation, and barely grazed hybridization/atomic orbitals. So its a lot of info to remember first semester IMO.

I only took I with Siska it was ok. P chem stuff.
