I would say your chances are pretty good. S had a slightly higher stats, slightly smaller number of ECs. He is in UW Honors now. From what I know, his Honors friends’ stats are similar to his.

Is he enjoying the program? How are the classes different than regular, non-Honors classes? Are they significantly more difficult/time consuming?

He is having a very good time. He hasn’t taken any Honors science classes yet( he is a PoliSci major ) , but both of his Western Civ classes were interesting and each of them challenging in different ways( one had the whole grade based on one big project , the prof in the other one was pretty eccentric and took some time getting used to) . All honors classes are small in size and humanities classes are VERY writing-intensive.

I was reading the honors site and it seems I have kinda low stats. Do you think retaking the SAT (or taking the ACT) would help (if I do better, of course)?

Parabella–does your son like the Honors program? I like the idea of it, but I don’t know anyone actually in it, so any real feedback would be great.

whirlybird,
S likes it a lot. He is having a wonderful time, made great friends in Honors, finds his classes challenging, but not overwhelming( still has time to explore, go to concerts and so on) . I don’t think your stats are too low, especially if you score well on SAT2s , but of course every year is different. Good luck.
