Honors College Scholarship amounts?

Honors College acceptance letter has this sentence near the bottom:

“Keep an eye on your USC Admissions Portal for your scholarship offer in March. All Honors College freshmen qualify for merit awards through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.”

March is a ways off so wondering if anyone with the same experience from previous years can give an idea of what to expect. OOS and already offered in-state tuition, but I’d really want more merit to make USC a strong contender. We haven’t heard anything from Top Scholars, but wondering what other kind of merit they might be referring to and what it might range.

Not sure about Top Scholars, but mine was offered an additional $2k per year on top of in state tuition in March, along with some other honor…can’t remember what it was called. These are the levels of scholarship at U of SC. REmember when looking at their GPA, they’re on a 6.0 for AP courses, so the gpa ranges are higher than those in states where 5.0 is the AP course.

My daughter didn’t get more money than what was shown - at least x $$.

But don’t forget that there is a charge for the Honors Program. $575 per semester.

Offer was instate tuition plus 2k per year. Honors accepted. USC still $9k per year more than Bama, both oos.

Still a great option. Nice to have choice. If you’re Honors at SC, there’s another fee.

Congrats on two great options - or Bama if SC isn’t affordable.

In the end, you only need one ‘affordable’ but if you can afford both, they are different so I hope you choose the right one.

Either way you have a great option.

I agree totally. Plus Miami U (also Honors) will be about the same price as USC. So three good choices under $30k per year. Got into Bucknell tonight but it’s $53k after $30k of merit and aid. Accepted Clemson Honors but their merit isn’t released yet. I hear they are fairly stingy, but fingers crossed! I’m rooting for them to be generous enough.

Yeah - Clemson isn’t happening.

Not sure the major, but honestly Miami, U of SC, Clemson, Bama - yes the experiences will be different but unlikely the outcome.

Most will say SC (if Honors). I will say Miami Honors may not have the rep but it’s a harder get.

Honors is different everywhere - and one should study what it entails to determine if it’s even right for them.

Four peers.

Good luck.
