Honors College

My brother is graduated next year. We are international student from Turkmenistan and he already took SAT1 with pretty much perfect score and SAT2: Advanced math 720, Physics 730. GPA 5.0 so far. Extr: guitar, schools soccer team.

He is planning to major in CS. In school they don’t have CS classes, but I am teaching him javascript and python and he is already helping me with some small web development projects. We plan to take some courses on EDx and Coursera during next year. We will apply to some Ivy league colleges, but I also want to find some good Honors Colleges in larger research universities, as alternatives. He is quite socially witty, so I guess he will fit in wherever he goes.

I did some online research, and I have a feeling that Honors colleges vary a lot from university to university. We are looking for Honors college with a lot of small, advanced/accelerated classes with good opportunities to do projects or research. Merit scholarships are certainly welcome, but not priority.

Also, one of my American friends strongly suggested Michigan State University’s honors college. Can you share thoughts on this college? Thanks a lot for your help!

Take a look at Arizona State’s Barrett Honors college.
