Honors course and Med School applications

I was just wondering if taking honors courses could help in regards to your competitiveness with med school applications or other grad school courses. I’m trying to decide whether it’s actually worth it to have a more intensive honors course or if in the long run it doesn’t matter. I’m also in a community college as of right now, and would like to know how honors courses could also help me in regards to transfers. Would a B in an honors course be as valuable as an A in a normal course? From what I’ve read, the best thing for most students seems to be to take the easy way out and fluff the GPA as much as possible. Which means that A > B regardless of the course type. What can you all tell me about this?
