I was just wondering what exactly the advantages are of taking honors courses like chem 015 (other than their possibly being better courses)? I don’t plan on majoring in chemistry but do plan on taking intro chem as I am likely to do biology, bbb, or such. Are these courses required for one to earn departmental honors eventually? Do they have a GPA benefit?

these are usually taught by better professors and will give you a more lenient grading curve. It’ll also place you in a classroom with (generally) smarter students. Can’t say much beyond that.

The material is definitely much harder, but it is much more interesting as well compared to the quite trite intro material…so I guess it will better satisfy your intellectual curiosity?
