Honors General Chem (015/016)- Prerequisites?

Does Chem015/016 have any prerequisites? I already have advanced standing (chem091). In order to take Chem015/016 in my freshman year, do I need to take the Chem101/102 placement exams at Penn this fall?

thx in advance

And do most students at Penn (esp. freshmen) take 4 or 5 courses at a time? Because I am planning on taking 5 courses my first semester. Would this be too hard? (includes intro bio, intro chem(maybe honors chem), calc, foreign language, writing seminar)

Do you guys think the workload will be overwhelming or manageable?

as far as i know, no prereqs…

and 5 is common for premeds and anyone who isn’t in the college…

I would assume your advisor will strongly recommend that you drop either chem or bio. Is it really worth it to take almost 6 credits first semester freshman year? If you really want to get through the premed requirements for the MCAT in 2 years then push back your graduation requirements or space them out a little more. PhillySASer recommended me this schedule:

PhillySASer also said that you can self study a few topics from second semester orgo and take the MCAT after the summer between sophomore and junior year. What I was considering was switching orgo and physics because I already took AP Physics C which is more than enough preparation for the MCAT.

also, his advice carries even more weight now because he did very well on his mcats =p

Hell, you’re a premed, just read through phillySASer’s old posts and learn what you need to do instead of asking us questions. The dude is busy applying to med school and I don’t think coming on CC to help you is one of his top priorities.

Out of curiosity, how well did he do on the MCAT?

well enough to be happy.

not my place to say any more than that.

He got a 45 :)

woah… venkat are u serious or joking? can’t tell, w/ that smiley face and everything heheh
