Do the freshmen students in the honors housing feel like a community? Do they have the opportunity to get to know each other since they do not have a big shared bathroom but have semi private bathrooms, doubles and suites? Are the students happy in the honors housing? Do they feel somewhat isolated not being in the center of the University or near linchfield towers?

Chocol-- many have loved honors housing and my son is still living with the friends he made on 2011 in honors housing. There have been many discussions on it…search for both Sutherland and or Honors housing in this forum for lots of information. Many will highly recommend it!

Short answers below, but I agree with @TitanMom16: do a search of this forum for detailed responses from many former/current UHC Residents.

Absolutely. Your RAs and fellow dorm-mates are (for the most part) going to be incredibly friendly and inclusive. In my experience, the UHC housing community was one of the best on campus (although I also really enjoyed short forays over into the Engineering housing community).

Yes, UHC encourages an “open door policy” where you keep your main door open to allow other students to wander in and say hello. In my experience, I rarely locked my door ever because the community was so trustworthy. You’ll also spend a lot of time together during orientation which will help you make friends with your neighbors/floor mates/etc.

I lived in Forbes for UHC housing which was more isolated than Sutherland is (because you’re still surrounded by other dorms and other people). So no, there isn’t really a feeling of isolation.
