honors or money

does anyone know what the avg. SAT score is for those admitted to the honors program? Also, what are the qualifications for scholarship money?

They haven’t released any official information for the new SAT, but on the old 1600 scale, the average SAT score was a 1399 for admitted honors students. You can find more info at http://depts.washington.edu/uwhonors/prospective/whoapply.html.

UW is extremely stingy with scholarship money, even more so for out-of-state students. Info on honors scholarships is available at http://depts.washington.edu/uwhonors/current/scholarships/index.html#freshmen.

As for scholarships for incoming freshmen, you can find some at http://www.washington.edu/students/ugrad/scholar/students/incoming/index.shtml. More info for scholarships based on your freshman application can be found at http://depts.washington.edu/specserv/scholarships/. Most of them will be given through different colleges and departments depending on what major you select on your freshman application.

If you have certain majors in mind, I’d suggest going ahead and putting those down as potential majors (as opposed to putting “undecided”). You’ll have a better shot at getting scholarships that way.

If you’re really looking for scholarships, I’d encourage you to apply for as many from outside as possible. Good luck!

Thanks so much, that was really helpful!
