Honors Orientation / Gemstone Question

So I was unable to get into an honors orientation and instead am going on July 11th / 12th and was wondering what people at one of the honors orientations did that was specific to the honors college (what I will be missing.) I know I will miss a two-hour Gemstone info. session, but what did the honors college in general do that seemed honors-specific and what else did Gemstone do? I am also not worried about the whole meeting honors people aspect at orientation as I believe going to Gems Camp will be a good start for that.

Thanks for the help.

Bump. Another way to pose the question is what makes the different types of orientations different other than the people there?

You will miss nothing important. You’ll miss out on meeting people from your gemstone class, but you’ll be able to bond with them A LOT at gems camp and in Gems100. The only important thing about orientation is that you will be able to plan your schedule. PLAN THAT IN ADVANCE using this[/URL">http://www.sis.umd.edu/bin/soc?term=201101&crs=DEPT"]this and this as well as looking at the requirements for your major.

Thanks, I figured that it wouldn’t be much missed since I think I have been told everything about the honors / Gemstone program at least four times already.

Also thanks for the links, but the information differs. For example, for CHEM 135, OurUMD has Dixon, Vedernikov, and Reutt-Robey teaching the class while the other link has Dixon and Steffek. I saw on another thread people talking about the three professors listed on OurUMD, so I am guessing it is the correct info. but does not have class times like the other link which is directly related to UMD’s site.

I have already used the curriculum they give to find professors on OurUMD and have the ones I would like in order and only need to pick a CORE class, which I assume can be done at orientation since I have no clue what to pick.

First link is for class schedule for Spring 2011 not Fall 2011

Thanks, I somehow missed that… I also received a packet with all the honors seminars soon after I posted which has helped a lot.
