HONORS program isn't all it's cracked up to be

<p>i’m drawn to UCLA because i got invited to the program, and i’m drawn to the program because it seems to offer a lot of really cool elective classes in smaller settings and priority registration… but if people really don’t enjoy it, that really sucks. but maybe they are in it for the wrong reasons. i too doubt that it makes a big difference on a resume. </p>

<p>how much tougher is it though? i don’t want more work LoL i just want to take cool classes!</p>

<p>you can drop out of it. i think the article mention how the honors program experiences a lot of attrition from rising sophomores. </p>

<p>i dunno how much tougher it is, but i do think the classes are more interesting and taught by top faculty. </p>

<p>most people i’ve asked also say “priority registration” as their primary reasoning for being in the honors program.</p>

<p>good question teal. no one has priority registration during orientation. that is the one time exception. </p>

<p>i advise you go to earliest orientation possible to maximize your chances of getting desirable classes.</p>

<p>Woah woah woah…you guys are reading an OP ED piece! Just because that dip**** thinks that Honors is crap, doesn’t mean it’s the truth…</p>

<p>Through Honors, you can take classes with some of UCLA’s finest professors, Michael Dukakis, Warren Christopher (former Sec. of State) and many other luminaries in their respective fields.</p>

<p>Yes, you also get the much-heralded priority enrollment. But you know what? Some of us did it because we wanted to do it.</p>

<p>And if you are doing anything “just for grad school,” just don’t bother, because it’s a waste of your time.</p>
