Honors Program

I was browsing the housing catalog when it mentioned something about honors housing. Does USC have an honors program? If so what’s the criteria for getting in?

I think you have to be a Presidential or Trustee scholar, enrolled in the Thematic Option (honors general education) program, and there might be a straight GPA requirement. I think it says that in the Housing catalog, though.

yes- its called the Thematic Option.

you don’t HAVE to be a presidential or trustee scholar.
You have to have a GPA of at least A- and an SAT score of at least 2130 (i think) or an ACT score of 32.
if you are eligible, you will receive an invitation to apply to the program. however, if you do not receive the invitation, you can still apply- “10 to 15 such students are admitted each year.”

<<an sat=“” score=“” of=“” at=“” least=“” 2130=“” (i=“” think)=“” or=“” an=“” act=“” 32=“”>></an>

No you don’t. The Thematic Option does not have an SAT/ACT cut-off point. Everyone who received Trustee/Presidential consideration was invited to apply, however not everyone who’s been given scholarship consideration scored above 2130/32.

Yeah. I was invited with a 2080, but I’m not applying. I would kill to trade that in for a Trustee’s though. :p

whatever, i just got the info off the site! : )
although i think for5aken is right- its 2080, not 2130.
so i think you either have to be presidential, trustee, or have the stats i listed earlier (but with SAT 2080)…if that makes sense?

I love how people call it “The Thematic Option.”

Hmmm so SAT score of 2080 and ACT of 32… There must be something else because I surpass those requirements and I wasn’t offered anything (maybe I should reconsider schools?)

There are limited spaces in the program as well. There’s a waiting list created after they are full ~7% of the incoming class will be in TO while, if I recall correctly ~18% will receive scholarships. TO is competitive. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great program, but there’s more to it than just stats.
