Hooks for Wharton?

Would publishing scientific research be a hook for Wharton? Also, how much does starting a successful business improve possible admission? Also, considering the results for semi-finalist and finalist for Siemans and Intel STS come around December-January, would those awards even appear on Early-Decision or Early-Action? If not, is it in a possible semi-finalist or finalist’s best interests to apply regular decision?

Not sure if its a hook. A hook is more of Recruited athlete, Legacy, Urm, 1st gen, etc. I know wharton has a lot of athletes so idk

If it isn’t categorized as a hook, is publishing scientific research a plus for applying to Wharton?

@OP: Regarding owning your own business, admissions has always stressed, at least to the countless number of sessions I’ve been to, that you don’t need to have business experience to get into Penn. I know a few people who go to Penn, that are all at Wharton. 0 of them had their own business. They did have some summer internships at research labs (I know you mentioned scientific research), but nothing officially published.
