Unfortunate personal breakdown at the beginning of my sophomore year. I transferred schools after a terrible year (my GPA was down to 2.45, my rank out of the top 60%) and here is where I stand currently, after my junior year.</p>
<p>SAT: 2130 (740 CR, 700 M, 690 W)
SAT II: US History- 750, Literature- 750
ACT: 34 (34 E, 32 M, 36 R, 35 S, 10 W) - Taking again with hopes of a 35 composite
PSAT: 217 (Received National Merit Letter, and above my state’s cutoff)
AP: US History- ? Macroeconomics- ? English Language- ? (presumably 2 5’s and a 4)</p>
<p>GPA: 3.358 Weighted (Will be 3.457 after I complete supplementary summer school classes)
Rank: 218/575 (was 332/575 last semester, my counselor estimates I’ll be around 80/575 next semester)</p>

<p>I want to study Japanese Studies and Economics (dual major) and minor in History.</p>
<p>Safeties are: Coe College, Drake University, Arizona State University and U of San Diego</p>
<p>I battled some personal and social circumstances at a very uppity high school in my area before transferring to my local public school (which is one of the top in my state), and I took off. I came back after being put down through social and personal hardships, in part dealing with my sexuality. Rice has been my dream since I got my head back on straight. My GPA with weighting will stand around 3.9 after my first senior semester, and my teachers and counselor will write me glowing recommendations.
I’m just afraid that I won’t get in Rice, Furman or Oxford (my top three) because I was weak my sophomore year, going as far as failing classes.
So what are my chances? Thank you in advance for anyone who evaluates me.</p>
