So I am deciding between UCR and OCC but either way I am hopeful to transfer out as a sophomore. USC, if im correct, does not give any sort of priority to cc. So i really do not know where to go. OCC or UCR

A community college would cost much less, so that would save you money. The even bigger benefit of OCC is that USC has an articulation agreement with them so you would be assured that your courses would transfer for credit. Error;

I don’t think being at either would give you an admissions advantage over the other, the key would be to have the strongest GPA possible. Good luck!

Hey I amsosad, I am in the same situation as you. I will be attending UCR in the fall and hopefully transferring out to usc sophomore year.

whats your major?

I am a bio major. and alamemom, UCR also have an articulation agreement with USC

USC does not have an articulation agreement with UCR - they have an articulation history Error; The difference is that with an articulation agreement, you are guaranteed that particular class will transfer for a particular requirement. With an articulation history, they tell you how it was applied in the past but do not make any guarantees about how a class will be applied in your case.

Ya same I am a bio major…

alamemom- im doing the trojan transfer plan, and they are going to tell me what classes to take in order for it to transfer…

@ alamemom oh thank you for clearing things out! haha now i am leaning towards cc?? and @ jazfizzle10 what is the trojan tranfer plan?

Well I got it in my rejection letter saying that I can schedule a meeting with them so they can help me transfer after a year from any college. I know a few people who transferred from UCR to USC in one year. If you call USC up, or email them, I’m sure they will tell you what classes to take. I’m goin to UCR because I got into the honors program so I have first priority registration, so I know for a fact that I will get all my classes that I need to transfer out in a year.

oh i didnt applied to usc. well when you know what classes you are taking can you let me know?

Yea sure I’ll let you know, so where do u think you will go in the fall?

Thanks. Haha I sired to ucr but I still have doubts and think bout cc

if money is not a large concern, i would definitely recommend going to ucr. although the articulation history is not technically an “agreement” or guaranteed, it’s pretty reliable.

That said, if you can take the same amount of classes at ucr that will transfer, why miss out on the freshman experience? It’s a great one at any school I promise, and I have many friends at ucr that love it! Good luck with whatever your decision is :)

hahah thanks!! money is not the issue for me at all, however, i fear that if i go UCR the risk of me graduating there is too high. What if i wont be able to transfer out within one year or two year? I mean i think ucr is a great school but i feel like i would want a degree at somewhere else. im shallow i guess :/

Well if you think about, a lot of people who do want to transfer have to go to a few community colleges to get classes. but at ucr, I’m pretty sure you will get all your classes if you register at orientation. and there are a lot of people who transfer from four year college, like uc santa cruz, riverside, boston college, if you look at the USC Transfer Stats for 2009 and 2010. I think you should come to ucr, we can work on transferrin out together! hahah

i would go to a CC. my gf had the choice of going to UCR/UCI/UCSD but went to a CC and transferred to USC. i had no choice and went to a CC and am now going in fall of 2010 (im accepted)

i think the only advantage of UCR (if money is no means) is that classes will be easier to get.
and you guys/gals do knwo we have a transfer area for USC…? :)

Congrats Dainese! What’s your major? Are you a sophomore transfer?

yup im a soph transfer.
major is psychology. :D

in order to be a junior transfer you need 64+ units i think.
ill have 54.5 going in the fall :D

Dainese what classes did you take your first year? and what are your stats if you don’t mind me asking…

I just made an appointment for the trojan transfer plan. I will be attending a UC in the fall. Would attending a UC make it difficult to plan a good transfer plan?
