i think i might retake it. i need to focus more on my CR

any thoughts?

only you know…
why must you ask strangers for a decision that will impact the rest of your life?

^exactly. and besides you tell us nothing for us to have any thoughts. what’s your current CR, what do you want, what schools are you aiming for, and what major? we can’t just say go for it or not based on nothing except your claim that your CR shud improve.

pwned

10char

i know what i need to focus on for CR, but i wanted to know what you guys were planning to do for January SAT

I am taking the SAT for the first time in January and i hope it will be for last
Hoping for :
Math 760-800
Writing 740-780
CR - 700 - 740

does college really accept jan scores??
Some college I asked, they said that they MAY consider it but no guarantee.

How about the rolling admission schools? Will it affect the amount of aid if we take test on jan???

oh jeez, i really want to get a 2100+

is there any advantage of taking the test in January. i know this probably isnt true, but some of my peers told me that the curve is better

i dont think thats true

@ boys:
that may be true, but you obviously don’t realize when and how differences in curves come into play. there is a reason why your peers might have told you january is best and it’s because there are two groups of people who generally take the SAT in jan:

people who are afraid their scores won’t get them into the schools of their choice, so they retake to increase their shot at getting into their choice schools (assuming those schools accept january scores of course)

people who are just starting out on their SAT cycles for that year (normally those who will apply at the end of next year)

if your aim is a 2100 though, curve difference between the months don’t really make much of a difference to you. they come into play generally for those people who score 2350 and above whereby +/- 10 points actually does make a difference. so don’t take your test based on when the curves are going to be good. in fact, rather than taking it in jan and hoping your scores will get you somewhere, it is a far better idea to practice all the way till march or maybe even till the summer sittings and then do it once and for all. 2100 is really not all that hard to reach, especially if you capitalize on the collective wisdom here at CC.

good luck.

improve 230 points

lol. take it for the first time and get a 2400, or at least a 2350.

The curves do not depend on those taking the tests, only on the difficulty of the test, which varies a bit from one test to another …

So far, the three Jan. SAT math tests in the new format have been: hard, average, and average (making the curve: easy/nice, average , average ).

I’m hoping for:

Critical Reading - 700+
Math - 650+
Writing - 700+

over a 2000, please!!

Aiming for 2400!!!

Yea!!! 2400!!!

Hoping for a 2100+

aiming for 750+ all sections, so 2250+.
