Explain the adversities you have encountered (250-350 words).
I’m not what the folks are looking for. Are they literally asking you to explain hardships? Do they want to know how you solved it or is that veering from the question?
If anyone’s received the scholarship, please consider enlightening me. Thanks!
My foster son received this scholarship in 2015. I believe the due date is tomorrow for this one, so you are starting your essay writing rather late.
Yes, they are looking for you to explain what your hardship was and how you are working to overcome it. I believe you also need letters of recommendation.

The deadline is in 10 days. You got a chance to explain hardships in the Adversity Questionnaire section of the application, so you need to write about your growth from these hardships. You also need to check that you have the correct essay prompts; the Adversity Essays have two prompts for 250 words: 1) Describe the impact your adversities have had on your life and development as a young adult. Discuss how you coped with these challenges. Detail the lessons you learned and the skills or insights you have gained that will help prevent your adversity from having a negative impact on your future. and 2) Describe the role that a mentor (an organization such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, coach, teacher, club leader, director, etc.) has played in helping you to confront the adversities in your life. What role do you believe mentors will fill throughout your undergraduate career?
