Hello everyone,
So this year I was selected to be a Horatio Alger Trott Family scholar. This requires that I attend UChicago, where I was accepted early action; in fact, I’ve already accepted my acceptance to UChicago as they required it. However, I had applied to Yale and Harvard regular decision, and I just found out that I was accepted to Yale. At this point I’m really torn between the two schools, and I don’t feel like I can really make a decision until I see both in April. But Horatio Alger wants me to put in confirmation that I’ll be attending their early April conference now, and I feel kind of guilty accepting the invitation to the conference and potentially not being able to accept the scholarship. So should I just go to the conference and then if I decide on Yale let them know later and decline the scholarship? Or should I just decline the conference invitation?
Thanks for your advice!
Btw, I talked to my counselor about switching schools after confirming enrollment and she said it was okay, so I wasn’t trying to be sneaky or anything. She told me I had a good reason to confirm it and as long as I didn’t double enroll it wasn’t unethical, people change their minds every year.
Sign up because you still may go there. Can you visit the schools earlier than April? Congrats my son applied to Yale RD.
