to put it simply, i absolutely BOMBED the math II test in december. i sent the scores to top schools before even seeing the score. i honestly don’t even remember what i got on it…something in the 500’s…and i’m an excellent math student (5 on AB calc exam, 780 math on SAT).

it probably didn’t help that the person giving the test didn’t tell us when we started and gave us ZERO time remaining warnings, not to mention the clock was barely visible. i think i left about 15-20 blank bc i didn’t know i was out of time.

WITH ALL THAT HAVING BEEN SAID,
how badly will that affect my admission to these colleges?

i applied to duke, penn, wake forest, richmond, whitman, and elon (already accepted)

gpa: 4.0 i guess (my school, doesn’t tell us…i make all A’s)
ACT: 31
ec’s: plenty/really good…3 varsity sports, club president, others
APs: world hist (4), AB calc (5), art (5), bio (5); taking chem, econ, and gov
SAT II: bio E (760)
recs: amazing i’m sure
essays: decent

“I find that character, talents, and uniqueness make a person, not numbers >_>”

… well you can’t deny that numbers that low will draw some attention. However, all your other accomplishments in math should convince admissions that your SAT II score was a fluke.

Why didn’t you cancel your scores if you knew you bombed it?

The concern I’d have is for schools which require more than one SAT II score (Penn, for instance) Since you only have one other SAT II score listed, I assume that you’ve only taken 2 SAT IIs, so there’s no chance that the schools would consider a 3rd, higher score. As Choi said above though, hopefully your other accomplishments in math should show that it was a fluke. Did you retake in Jan?

Ah ok, right I didn’t see your ACT score at first. I think some schools will take either SAT + 2 SAT IIs, OR the ACT with Writing, so if that’s the case with your specific schools, you should be fine.
Best of luck!

here’s something. 5 on the AP AB calc and 780 on the math SAT don’t put you down as an excellent math student. a good one probably but the indicator for excellent, atleast here on cc is definately higher.

that having been said, i don’t think one bad figure out of place will kill your chances. it’s all down to your luck after all.
