<p>The barn where D rides will have its 3rd annual costume party this year, and we’re having a hard time coming up with a new idea for a horse costume. Any suggestions?</p>
<p>It will be hard to top last year, when the horse was a pinata. (We covered a slinky horse blanket with multi-colored crepe paper.)</p>

<p>Do a forum search for costume ideas for horse. I started a similar thread in 08. Sadly my memory is totally gone and can’t remember any of the rider and horse costumes from last year.
I am glad we aren’t doing the horse and rider costume class this year. Our end of the year show is always Halloween weekend. In addition to the end of the year medal classes and the regular hunter-jumper show events they have several costume classes. It is really cute to see some of the really young riders dressed up with their decorated ponies.</p>
<p>Don’t know anything about this event, but could you do something with the horse from War Horse? The Swedish Dala horse comes to mind, but that’s not scary. The thestrals from Harry Potter?</p>

The horse is bay - brown with a black tail.</p>
<p>The thestrals look cool, but I can’t imagine how to make those wings, and make them stay on.</p>

<p>I like that skeleton costume. Nothing to spook the horse.</p>
<p>Get three other riders and do the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse. I saw this once at a Halloween parade in our town. They did paint one of the horses red I think.</p>
<p>You could try say Paul Revere, Don Quixote & Rosinante, Bellerophon & Pegasus, or Gandalf and Shadowfax. Failing those there is always something simple - like Lady Godiva.</p>
