Hospital Volunteering

What do you guys think would be the best position for hospital volunteering, in terms of really getting a feel for medicine?

Just get something that isn’t boring. I thought that working @ my hospital’s ER reception would be exciting and fun…but I would always do the billing w/in the first 10 min of my 4 hour shifts and would sit there waiting for someone to ask me to do something for the remaining time. I ended up quitting. On the other hand, my friend worked in the daycare center and had tons of fun—though it’s not that medically-related (but still can be put down as “hospital volunteering”).

Bottom line: find something mildly interesting and stick w/ it. It all depends on the hospital.

ICU should be interesting.
